Dr Anna Tissandier CPsychol

I am not currently taking any new referrals.

If you are looking for EMDR therapy I recommend you visit the EMDR Association website:

I am a chartered clinical psychologist and EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner offering one to one therapeutic work with adults. In our time together, we would aim to develop a shared understanding of your life – its significant events and relationships – and to explore the ways these may have led to certain strengths and vulnerabilities. This kind of understanding can itself help people to feel very differently, and to start to make changes in their lives. We would begin this during the assessment.

Further and deeper changes become possible when we work on processing difficult events that may still be exerting an influence, and by developing techniques to deepen self-compassion. I believe this can only happen if our relationship is built on trust, acceptance, integrity and warmth. These are my core values and I endeavour to bring them into all my work. The experience of a relationship like this can be transformative in itself.

Professional Background

I began working in NHS mental health services 17 years ago and completed my clinical doctorate in 2010. As a Clinical Psychologist I am trained to a high level in several evidence-based therapy models. My training included three years of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic approaches and systemic / narrative approaches. Since qualifying I have done additional training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). My therapeutic orientation is person-centered, trauma-informed and integrative. The approach we take in therapy will be a shared decision with you.

I have worked with adults experiencing emotional distress in both the NHS and a charitable rehabilitation organisation, in particular working with the impact of trauma. I worked for several years in an NHS psychological therapies service for adults with severe and complex mental health difficulties. I also have experience of working with emergency service personnel and with women during the perinatal period.
